Having enjoyed something of a breakthrough ride during last year's An Post Rás when he won several county rider stage awards and took the county rider general classification, Ian Richardson came back this time around to prove his 2015 was no one-off.
Since then, Richardson has gotten stronger and lost 5kg and he has won some great one-day races in recent months.
Both he and UCD-FitzCycles.ie team mate Eoin Morton went into this event as riders of some note.
But they emerge with their standings in the sport hugely bolstered; Richardson having dominated the county jersey again and Morton having taken a stage and worn the king of the mountains jersey.
In this clip Richardson talks about collecting his fourteenth blue county rider jersey in two years on the Rás, about a mishap on Mount Leinster and the "argy bargy" of the Rás on the final stage yesterday.
He also believes the Rás proved both he and Morton deserve their places on the Irish team for the Philadelphia International Cycling Classic, for which they depart Ireland on Wednesday.
