Arrogance of some Dublin drivers captured in this Garda photo
What an idiot. But be honest, are you sometimes the cycling version of this driver?
Every now and again, though not as often as we’d like, the Garda shares photos of road users who seem to think they’re the only one on the roads.
Most motorists are extremely decent, but here’s a photo that sums up the arrogance of some drivers.
This delivery van driver is not only double parked and so blocking traffic on what is a very busy and narrow road; he’s also blocking a bike lane and a wheelchair space.
It’s good to see the Garda catching these guys and publicising those efforts.

But let’s all be clear; it’s shouldn’t be a them Vs us approach on the roads between motorists and cyclists.
If we don’t want to be treated as inferior road users ourselves, we need to make sure we don’t act like inferior road users.
Every time one of us breaks a red light on our bike, we are this van driver. Be cool folks, don’t be this guy.
