It is now confirmed that Aqua Blue Sport has ridden its last race. It is out of the Tour of Britain despite having named a team to ride it.

Stickybottle broke the news this morning that those inside the team had been told last night the squad had already ridden its last race.

And now that has been confirmed by events throughout the day. Stickybottle was aware of texts and Whatsapp messages between personnel last night confirming the team had ended with immediate effect.

However, sources have now confirmed an email was also sent out by Tim Timmerman, the Aqua Blue Sport CEO.

It confirmed the team would not ride the Tour of Britain; Ireland’s Conor Dunne and Eddie Dunbar having been expected to ride.

Timmerman said management had been reviewing contracts and had decided in the interests of prioritising other overheads coming down the line, the race programme was being stopped.

He added the payment of wages and salaries was among the priorities, rather than continuing to race.

However, staff have told stickybottle they were now very fearful they will not be paid for the remainder of the year.

And with team having ended before August is even over, considerable monies are owed.

Cycling teams are obliged to pay staff for the full year; to December 31st.

Personnel within the team have said news of the closure came as a surprise to them.

And additional news relating to the racing programme stopping immediately worsened the impact just hours later had.

And because of that, they said there were real concerns about the future salary payments due.

However, they were hopeful they would be paid and said only time would tell.
