Aqua Blue Sport team owner, Rick Delaney, has suffered multiple fractures after being hit by a motorist while cycling.
Delaney was out on his bike in Sardinia with a friend when the collision occurred. It appears the motorist was passing the two riders at the time.
While both riders were injured, Delaney came off worst. He has since had surgery and the team says he is on the mend.
However, the litany of fractures he sustained suggests a very nasty incident.
“Team owner Rick Delaney was involved in an accident this week while cycling in Sardinia with a friend,” Aqua Blue Sport said.
“He has sustained numerous fractures including to his arm, hand, collarbone and hip. He is currently in surgery.
“We wish him a speedy recovery and would like to thank the local emergency services and medical authorities for their prompt and professional assistance.”

In an update earlier today, Friday, the team added Rick Delaney was out of surgery.
“It won't be long before (he) is back in the saddle," it said, adding he was in good form considering what had happened.
The team thanked everyone who had wished him well but also urged caution on the roads.
“As cyclists, we are all too often reminded of how vulnerable we are; and how dependent on the diligence and respect of those with whom we share the road,” the team said.
“To all drivers, please - please - slow down, watch out, and pass with care.”
We’ll keep you updated on how Delaney is getting on. And we wish him the very best in his recovery.
He’ll hopefully be back to his active self soon. But without doubt has been through a very difficult experience.
Out of surgery, on the mend and in good spirits, all things considered... it won't be long before team owner @RickDelaneyABS is back in the saddle.
Thanks to everyone for their kind messages and again, take care of each other on the roads! pic.twitter.com/CeFlTwktU8
