Another inspirational jaw-dropping tricks video from Martyn Ashton despite spinal injury

Having blown everyone away with the release of his Road Bike Party video 12 months ago, motorbike and mountain bike trials legend Martyn Ashton has since suffered a life-changing spinal injury.

However, today he released the planned sequel to the hugely popular film of last year; with Road Bike Party 2 (above) completed with the help of other stars who rallied around Ashton when his life changed forever back in September.

The new film features Chris Askrigg and Danny MacAskill – two fellow stunt riders who were drafted in to complete the project after Ashton suffered his spinal injuries and paralysis three months ago.

Like his film of last year - when he put a Team Sky Pinarello Dogma through an, erm, robust test - the latest clip also features Ashton doing tricks on a road bike and exercising the kind of control the average bikie could only ever dream of.

The 38-year-old was taking part in a trials demonstration in September at the Moto GP in Silverstone in the UK when he fell backwards onto a bar some three metres off the ground, hitting it with significant force and suffering spinal injuries.

However, he said shortly afterwards he was determined to stay positive and as part of that process was pressing ahead with the release of Road Bike Party 2, which has come to fruition today despite filming not being fully completed before his accident.

“Since the accident I've received so many wonderful messages and well wishes, I can't thank everyone enough for those; it has been hugely supportive,” he said a few weeks back.

“I'm also incredibly lucky to have amazing family and friends, who are all rallying around myself, Lisa and Alfie, and helping us through this tough time.

“As a result I'm feeling very positive and ready to face the tough challenge ahead. I'm just taking it day by day, hoping that I can make enough progress over the next three months to be home for Christmas.”
