Two of the country’s best U23 talents have signed for the An Post-ChainReaction for 2017.

Matt Teggart joins from French amateur squad AC Bisontine where he spent much of this season while Sean McKenna, 22, is extending his stay at the team.

McKenna spent part of this year with the squad based in Belgium after a couple of fantastic seasons in the domestic peloton.

While McKenna raced quite a bit at home in 2016 with Aqua Blue he will get far more exposure to European racing next year.

It’s an exciting move for 20-year old Teggart, who enjoyed a very good season this year.

He wore the green of Ireland on plenty occasions, most notably in the An Post Rás where he helped teammates Eddie Dunbar and Mark Downey secure very good results, including a stage win for Dunbar.

Teggart was a very good junior and since moving into the U23 ranks last year has really excelled.

He comes from a well known cycling family, with his father and uncle both representing Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth Games.

And his grandfather rode in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.

Also joining the An Post squad for 2017 is Belgium’s Massimo Vanderaerden, son of Eric Vanderaerden, who was a fierce rival to the team’s director Sean Kelly throughout their professional racing careers.

Young Dutch rider, Davy Gunst who was previously a member of the Rabobank team, is another exciting signing for the team while Briton Jacob Scott will return for the upcoming season.

More riders are set to be named in the team’s 2017 roster in the coming days.
