This truck was carrying another small truck, a tractor and a JCB when it hit the railway bridge in Amiens St, Dublin north inner city.
Irish Rail has shared this footage of a bridge strike in
Dublin, saying cyclists and other road users were lucky to avoid it.
The clip shows a trucker driving up Amiens St towards the
city centre when his load clipped the bridge.
At the time the truck was carrying a load of three
vehicle; another, smaller, truck as well as a tractor and a JCB.
The JCB’s arm was sticking up and hit the bridge as the
truck and its cumbersome load passed under.
On impact the JCB came off the back of the truck and
landed on the road just outside Cleary’s Pub, which is visible in the clip.
And Irish Rail said it was good fortune there were no cyclists
or other road users around at the time.
This stretch is very popular with commuter cyclists as it
is one of the main roads out of the city centre for those going north side.
“Had pedestrians, cyclists or motorists been on the other
side of the road, people could have been killed at Amiens St this lunchtime.
Know your load height for the safety of all”.
The incident at Amiens St Bridge happened around
lunchtime yesterday. And the same bridge was hit just three weeks ago.
