A man has been charged with drink driving and a number of other offences after a crash in Sydney, Australia, in which a four children in a group walking and cycling together were killed. Three of those who died were siblings.
As well as the four fatalities - of children aged 9, 11, 12 and 13 years - three other children were injured.
A 29-year-man driving the SUV that hit the group of seven children and a babysitter was arrested at the scene after reportedly returning an adverse test result for alcohol.
He has since appeared in court charged with a number crimes, including manslaughter and high level drink driving.
The driver in the SUV mounted a footpath in Oatlands in north west Sydney just before 8pm on Saturday evening and hit the children.
The three siblings who died have been named as Antony Abdallah (13) Angelina Abdallah (12) and Sienna Abdallah (9). Another child aged 12 years was also killed.
It appears the Abdallah children had gone out with their babysitter and with other children in a group on their bikes and walking to buy ice cream when the driver of a Mitsubishi SUV hit them on the pavement.
Police suspect the driver was at an all-day party. While he drove on after the crash he came to a halt about 100 metres up the road from the crash scene.
