Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-QuickStep) has escaped a time penalty on the Tour de France after being pushed on the Col du Galibier.

The yellow jersey was struggling at the time as he was being dropped by the other favourites near the top of the mountain.

He eventually got back on going down the climb. However, a team staff member handed him up a bottle on the climb and got a bit carried away, giving him a solid push.

Primoz Roglic (Jumbo Visma) received two pushes from fans on the Giro and was penalised by 10 seconds.

However, Alaphilippe himself has escaped any sanction, though his team has been fined for the incident.

Deceuninck-QuickStep sports directeur Tom Steels was fined 500CHF over the incident.
