The great Bernard Hinault was never late for training because his kit was on the line or because he was, erm, “nailing candy crush on the toilet”. But that doesn’t mean they’re not both perfectly good excuses.
If you’re anything like some of us here on stickybottle, you’ll have been late for group training every now and again.
In any club or chain gang there’s always that small group who seem to specialise in keeping everyone waiting.
The only absolute way around it is to introduce a strict departure time and leave for your spin from your meeting spot at that exact time. And do that every time.
Missing the group and having to train alone or being forced to sprint after your departed mates tends to focus the mind when it comes to punctuality for future training rides.

But, if you just can’t get out of the habit of being late, you should at least have a good array of excuses ready to wheel out when the need arises.
