A three-man breakaway has dominated stage 2 at Kerry Group Rás Mumhan, racing very strongly out front for much of the stage to hold off several chasing groups, and the bunch. It gained almost two minutes on the remains of the peloton by they time they reached the chequered flag in Sneem.
As was the case on yesterday's stage 1, the stage victory went to a UK rider, with Finn Crockett (Spokes Racing Team) winning after almost three hours of racing, though the two Irish riders he was with are also now very well placed in the battle to win overall.
Dean Harvey, the Trinity Racing man competing with Cycling Ulster this weekend, was 2nd on the same time as Crockett while Ewan Warren of Caldwell Cycles, who is based in Spain this year and won a stage of the Gorey Three Day 12 months ago, was 3rd at two seconds.
Jason Kenny of UCD Cycling Club led in a four-man chasing group for 4th place on the Killarney to Sneem stage, some 1:10 after the leaders had finished. However, the bunch was then 1:45 back; big gaps in Kerry today.
