Video: Snow is falling and Catalunya could see an epic stage 4
For once the snow arrived a few hours late for @VoltaCatalunya Cold day ahead but at least we don't have to go too high pic.twitter.com/LJ7z0HR9WB

The stage start at the Volta A Catalunya is covered in snow, which continues to fall. The race could be shortened and things may get epic pretty fast.
Today's stage 4 at the Volta A Catalunya has plenty of climbing but with a long descending and flat run in to the finish some of the sprinters will be looking to survive all the way.
The stage is in the features the Turó del Puig climb close to the finish, see profile below.
It could be decisive as it is 3km long with an average gradient of 5.7 per cent, peaking at 10 per cent. If some of the sprinters can limit their losses they would have plenty of time to get back on; 14km to be precise.
But as the video and photos below reveal, snow is falling at the start and is heavy on the ground. The race organisers say a decision will be made at 11.30am to possibly move the stage start.
That would likely involve starting the stage at a lower altitude where conditions are better. It could be epic, especially if it goes ahead in a shortened format when all-out action would be likely from the gun.
As it stands, the stage route takes the riders 194.3km from Llívia to Igualada.
