Timmy Barry a cut above in Carrick-on-Suir; takes solo win from breakaway

Timmy Barry (Dan Morrissey/Speedy Spokes) soloed to a fine victory in the Tommy Sheehan Memorial race in Carrick-on-Suir today, Sunday.

The evergreen Corkman seems to be timing his form in advance of next month's An Post Rás to perfection and illustrated that on the testing 100 kilometre course.

Breaking away with local rider Martin Mizgajski (Iver Produce/Carrick Wheelers) on the last of the four laps, Barry then ramped up the pace before simply riding away from Mizgajski on the run-in to the finish.

Barry's team-mate Sean Lacey was next over the line to round out the podium.

In the A3 race, the promoting club had reason to celebrate as Sean Hahessy took the spoils.
