Hugh Mulhearne (Iverk Produce Carrick Wheelers) has taken a brilliant win in the National Vets Road Race Championships in Carlingford, Co Louth, this afternoon.
The twice national track champion just edged out Greg Swinand (Usher Irish Road Club) after they escaped from a 10-man break on the second last lap.

Together, they only had a lead of six seconds coming into the finish, with Mulhearne taking it by a whisker.
Derek Joyce (Galway Bay CC) nicked third and the final spot on the podium.
