Former international Mehall Fitzgerald takes Mondello comeback win

 

Former elite international Mehall Fitzgerald has announced his comeback to racing this evening, Tuesday, by taking victory in the latest round of the Bike Worx Series at Mondello racing track in Co Kildare.

The renowned sprinter, who is back in training in recent months and has taken out an A3 licence, took a sprint win after the breeze blew apart the 61-man field tonight. While the rain threatened, it managed to stay clear until the race was over.

It was Fitzgerald’s first win after six years away from racing. During a very fruitful career he was the best sprinter on the domestic scene, taking multiple stage wins the Ras and also lifting the national road race title and scores of other victories.
