Dowling underlines class with Des Hanlon win after solo move in Carlow

Mark Dowling of the DID Dunboyne team has opened his account for 2015 in great style with a very comfortable solo win in the Des Hanlon Memorial A1-A2 race in Carlow today.

Dowling was well clear on his own, taking victory from Ryan Sherlock (Unattached).

He also came in alone to improve on his 3rd place of last year behind race winner Bryan McCrystal and runner up Paidi O'Brien.

After Dowling and Sherlock had taken 1st and 2nd today, it was left to Robin Kelly (Waterford Racing Team) to take the group sprint for 3rd; a fantastic ride for a man regarded as a sprinter.

Michael O'Loughlin of the NRPT-Magnet.ie team took a solo win in the A3-Junior race to improve on his 2nd place of last year behind Eddie Dunbar.

More later.
