Lara Gillespie (UAE Team ADQ) has ridden her first race as Irish road race champion and has blasted in to win at Argenta Classic-Deurne (1.1).
The Irish rider had already won Beobank Samyn Ladies (1.1) this season and also finished 2nd on two stages of the recent Giro d'Italia.
And having hit the mark, in a sprint from a breakaway, at the National Road Championships in Cong, Co Mayo, last weekend, Gillespie blasted in to win the bunch sprint in Deurne, Belgium, today at the end of 127km of racing.
She got the better of runner-up, and Canadian road race champion, Maggie Coles-Lyster (Human Powered Health), with Dutch rider Lonneke Uneken (VolkerWessels Cycling Team) completing the podium.
More to come.
