Richael Timothy has added road race gold the Irish paracycling national team's seven-medal haul from the UEC Paracycling European Road Championships in Maniago and Montereale Valcellina, Italy.

Paralympian Timothy, who won two bronze medals on the track at the Worlds in 2023, proved best in the four-up sprint for the medals in the women's C3 road race on Sunday in Italy.

On the slightly uphill sprint, over cobbles, Timothy saw off Dutch rider Aniek van den Aarssen and France's Tifany Huot Marchand in the final gallop.

It was Timothy’s second medal of the championships having picked bronze in the women’s C3 Time Trial (TT).

However, while she has a growing collection of bronzes, her European's gold medal win was the first major championship victory of her career, making it a huge day for her.
