Robin Seymour once again proved his class on Sunday when he won the third round of the Fixx Supercross Cup in Tymon Park, Tallaght, Dublin.
The multiple national champion and Olympian, who is co-ordinator of the off-road commission, had around 50 seconds to spare on Paul O’Reilly of (Fixx Rouleurs) after one of the races of the season so far.
A strong field that included Glenn Kinning (Kinning Cycles) battled it out in appalling conditions.
But as so often has been the case when the going gets tough, Seymour found a way to win again.
A puncture with three laps to go did nothing to help O’Reilly’s chances while an untimely broken derailleur for Kinning also saw him lose valuable time and probably a higher place on the standings.

But what was notable from the results was the presence of two rising cyclocross talents, David Conroy and Cameron McIntyre, both of whom who are juniors.
They were third and eighth, respectively.
Conroy was on course to finish second but O’Reilly staged a remarkable recovery to nick it from him.
The women’s race was won by Beth McLuskey, the former international rider proving a class apart once again.
Maeve O’Grady (Cycleways) and Michelle Geoghegan (Napoleon Games) were next over the line there.
So bad were conditions today that most of the kickers in the forest became impossible to ride over while one rider, who seemingly had enough of it, opted to forget racing altogether and have a bit of a laugh in the mud.
God bless his soul!
