Conor Murnane has proven to be one of the top riders of the
2021 season and his reputation has taken another step forward with victory in
the Galway Classic today.
It’s been a big week for the UCD Cycling Club rider, who
was competing in the Galway Bay Cycling Club promotion today as part of a
Leinster selection.
Victory at the Mondello Series last Tuesday was followed up
48 hours later with his first Irish title after winning the National Criterium
Championships on Thursday in Co Limerick.
And today at the end of the Galway Classic, Murnane unleashed his increasingly fearsome sprint to win again, from a 10-man group.

This time around he beat Daire Feeley (All
human-VeloRevolution) into 2nd place, as he had done at the criterium
championships three days ago.
Feeley took the runner-up spot today having won Rás Cill
Mocheallog in Co Limerick yesterday, in very convincing fashion.
Thomas Creighton (McConvey Cycles) clear put his
cyclocross skills to go use today in Galway over the sectors of gravel that litter
what is a unique course in Irish cycling as he made the lead group and sprint
in for 3rd place.
The others in the front group today, and filling places 4th through to 10th, were, in order: Darnell Moore (Caldwell Cycles), Richard Meaney (Connacht), Connor Hennebry (Munster), junior rider Dean Harvey (VC Glendale), Liam Crowley (Munster), Darragh McCarter (Spellman Dublin Port) and Luke Smith (Leinster).

In the A3 race, Lorcan Daly of Killarney CC took victory after
he and Conor Gallagher (UCD Cycling Club) pulled clear and battled it out.
Like the A1-A2 race winner, Daly has also had a great
week as he claimed the bronze medal at the National Criterium Championships on
Thursday and was 3rd in the Cal McCarthy Memorial Cup yesterday in Kilmallock,
Co Limerick.
More to follow.
