Irish junior track and road international Patrick O'Loughlin (Panduit Carrick Wheelers) has topped the Cycling Ireland junior rankings for 2022. He led an excellent final podium from Niall McLoughlin (Westport Covey Wheelers) CC and Adam Gilsenan (Ciclistico Canturino).
A total of 302 juniors are ranked this year - see full list below - and are split into A2, A3 and A4 categories. Just seven riders were promoted to A2 in 2022. Aside from the top three riders, the others promoted to A2 were: Sam Bolger (Killarney CC), Irish junior road race champion Oisin Ferrity (Island Wheelers), Quillan Donnelly (Isorex Cycling Team) and Samuel Moloney (Greenmount CA).
O'Loughlin was top with 70 points in the A2 category, with McLoughlin on 44 points and Gilsenan on 24 points.
O'Loughlin (18) won the Seamus Kennedy Memorial this year and also won the Cycling Ireland Junior National Road Series, placing 2nd in three rounds. He was also 3rd in the road race at the National Road Championships in Kanturk and placed 3rd overall in the Charleville Three Day, among a host of other podium finishes.

McLoughlin (17) was 2nd in the road race at the National Road Championships and also claimed a stage in the Kerry Group Rás Mumhan, the blue ribbon elite stage race at Easter. He also won the Des Hanlon Memorial, a round of the national series.
Gilsenan (18) won two rounds of the national series, in Co Meath and Co Limerick, and claimed victory in the season-opening Mick Lally Memorial back in March. He also claimed a great win in Italy, where he was based for much of the season, when he triumphed in Memorial Antonio Colo in August.
