Oisin O'Callaghan has marked his first week as world champion by taking another major international victory; his third in eight days.
He put in an incredible performance at the latest round of the UCI DH World Cup in Slovenia, taking victory by a huge margin.
The 17-year-old from Limerick, riding for The TY Mob,
took the junior downhill world title in Austria this day last week.
He then followed up that performance with a UCI DH World
Cup in Slovenia on Friday before taking another World Cup today, again in
Slovenia.
This time around O’Callaghan’s winning margin was nothing
short of staggering; clocking 3:16.10
for his run, which was 5½ seconds faster than the next man home.
That gap between O’Callaghan and Portugal’s Nuno Reis (Miranda Factory Team) was the same as that between covering the next 10 riders.
