Aaron Wade has taken his biggest career with in France today when he was best in the final sprint to the line that settled the honours in GP Christian Fenioux-Souvenir Gilles-Malard.
Wade (Team U Cube 17) got a great lead-out from his team on the testing finish, with the riders sweeping downhill just before the prolonged drag up to the line. Once the Irish rider's last lead-out man was done, Wade (20) took charge on the front with a very impressive finishing kick to secure victory.
While it looked like he may have hit the front a little early, he had the staying power to match his enthusiasm and was not threatened in the least by the other sprinters around him.
While Wade took his first win in France two weeks ago - with a solo victory at Baignes Grand Prix - today's triumph was of a much higher standard as the race was an elite national event. His strong run of form comes after an early season blighted by injury and illness, though Wade has persevered through it and is now getting his reward.
He emerged with victory today - after 148.7km of racing - from Dylan Guinet (Philippe Wagner Cycling) with Ronan Racault (Guidon Chalettois) rounding out the podium. James Alexandre (EC St Etienne Loire) was 4th with Julien Kerboriou (Orleans Loiret Cycling) in 5th.
More to come.
