An Post Ras stage winner Pirmin Lang takes the victory in France today
After his excellent 10th place in the prologue TT of the Boucles de la Mayenne (2.2) four-day stage race in France yesterday, Ireland’s sole representative in the field Sam Bennett lost time today, Friday, slipping down the general classification.
The An Post-Sean Kelly team’s best finisher was Niko Eeckhout who grabbed 7th in the sprint to the line for third place from a diminished peloton after a lumpy 187km; leaving him 9th on the stage.
The only other rider from the Belgian-Irish team to finish in the main bunch was Gediminas Bagdonas, who took 13th on the stage.
The stage was won by Swiss rider Pirmin Lang, who won a stage and held the yellow jersey in the An Post Ras last month.

He took the victory today by just two seconds from Renaud Dion, who came home just nine seconds ahead of the bunch.
There are two stages remaining in the UCI 2.2 stage race.
