Vitus Bikes latest to snap up SRAM'S Rival 1 CX groupset for 2016 Cyclocross range

Vitus Bikes has revealed its 2016 cyclocross line-up and it is no surprise to see the forward-thinking brand has upgraded to SRAM's new 1x11 groupset on its top bike, pictured above.

What is a surprise is that it is cheaper than last year's top model - and you can also get SRAM'S Rival 1 CX on the full carbon Vitus Energie Pro's alloy brother.

The top-of-the-line Vitus Energie Pro is billed by owners Chain Reaction Cycles as a "built for purpose professional level cyclocross race bike".

Key to the lure of the Energie is the upgrade from the SRAM Force 1x11, a groupset launched last year specifically for cyclocross set ups, to the new Rival offering.

It was launched in April as a one-ring option for road bikes - as well as cyclocross machines.

New on the 2016 model are bolt through axles, front and rear, reducing the frame's weight by 200g.

The Vitus Energie Pro has been designed with the help of Vitus-sponsored Irish national cyclocross champion David Montgomery.

Another change to the frame itself is the in-vogue fluorescent paint job and the geometry; the effective top tube length goes out by 5mm for a more aggressive ride and better handling.

The frame is lighter, but the overall weight of the Vitus Energie Pro is the same as last year - listed as 8.83kg for a size 54cm on chainreactioncycles.com.

However, you can pick up this brand new pedalling superstar for €2,337 - that's more than €350 less than 2015's edition.
