Fleet of cargo bikes for online auction as Irish company goes into liquidation

Nobody likes to see a business going into liquidation, especially one that was trying to do the right thing - but now a fleet of e-cargo bikes is up for auction due to the closure of a Dublin firm last month (Photo: Wilsons Auctions)

If you fancy getting yourself an e-cargo bike, for your
business or for personal use, now is your chance as a fleet of 18 second hand
bikes is being auctioned off.

Unfortunately the sale arises from an Irish company going
into liquidation, which is obviously never good news. And now the company’s
assets are being sold and 18 of its e-cargo bikes are going under the hammer.

The bikes now going up for auction are all Urban Arrow electric bikes
with Bosch Performance line motors.

The auction is being handled by Wilsons Auctions and is taking place online, which means interested buyers based in the Republic or the North can place their bids.

EcoXpress Operations Ltd owns the bikes and used them in its courier business which was founded of the principal of delivering goods based on a zero emissions operation.

EcoXpress was established in 2019 and was based at Oscar’s Café, Fox-and-Geese Common, Dublin 22. However, early in the New Year the board of the company met and decided to place the company into a creditor’s voluntary liquidation.

It said it was taking the step as the company “can no longer pay its debts as they fall due
and does not have a reasonable prospect of survival”.

The 18 e-cargo
bikes now being sold off are available to view at the company’s former business
premises. Other assets there, including furniture and containers, are also
being auctioned. However, the bikes are likely to generate a lot of interest
given how expensive e-cargo bikes can be and their growing popularity.

Anyone
interested in viewing the bikes ahead of the auction can do so next Monday,
February 7th, between 10am and 3pm, though you must make an appointment.

The
online auction starts at 1pm next Monday and ends at 1pm on Wednesday –
February 7th and 9th respectively. All
bikes secured at auction must be paid for within 24 hours of the auction
concluding and the bikes can been collected by buyers next Friday, February 11th
or Monday, February 14th.
