Cyclist killed in Bank Holiday Weekend crash in Dublin

Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic crash in which a cyclist was killed in Dublin

A cyclist has died from injuries he sustained in a Bank Holiday Weekend crash in Dublin. While the man was treated at the scene and taken to hospital, medical staff were sadly unable to save him.

Gardaí confirmed they were investigating "a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision involving a bicycle" at approximately 2pm on Sunday on the Ticknock Road in Ticknock, Co Dublin. 

"The cyclist, a man in his 60s, was taken to St Vincent's University Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A post-mortem examination will be conducted at a later date," the Garda said.

"A technical examination of the scene on the Ticknock Road has been conducted and the road has re-opened to traffic. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Ticknock Road area between 1:45pm and 2pm are asked to make this footage available to gardaí."
