Video: Irish sportive having the craic on arrival at Euros in Paris

Posted on: June 13th, 2016

A large group of Irish cyclists giving it a lash in Paris after their sportive to the Euros arrived just in time for Ireland’s first game.

A large group of Irish riders taking part in the Mustard Seed sportive arrived in Paris for the Euros and immediately got stuck into having the craic.

The sportive involved the group setting out on their bikes in Ireland, catching the ferry to France and then riding through the country, with tickets for Ireland’s game against Sweden at the Euros waiting for them when they arrived.

They braved some pretty nasty weather on the way; riding 700km from the home of the Irish soccer team – Dublin’s Lansdowne Rd – to Stade de France.

The 100 riders all went to the match this evening when Ireland drew 1-1 with Sweden.

Undoubtedly the celebrations will go on well into the early morning despite some tired bodies from the trip over.

In the couple of clips below you can see the riders being greeted by a band laid on to celebrate their arrival in Paris yesterday.

And in the second clip top Irish road rider Bryan McCrystal – the face of the event – leads the sing song on the road to Paris.

In the final clip the riders can been seen rolling into Paris after their long journey. Looks like a good bit of fun, well done all!
