Irish international road riders Darragh O’Mahony and Ryan Reilly are both set for a new team in France next year.

O’Mahony had been all set to move to Italy for the 2018 season. However, he has now decided on a place with a division 1 French squad.

And he and Reilly will be team mates for what will be an important season for both.

They have secured berths with Team CC Nogent-sur-Oise. The squad has been operating since the late 1940s.

It is based in Nogent-sur-Oise in the Oise department in the Hauts-de-France region of the north of the country on border with Belgium.

In excess of 40 of its former riders have progressed to the professional ranks. Among those are Arnaud Démare, Christophe Riblon, Brice Feillu, Romain Feillu, Yoann Offredo and Anthony Turgis.

Reilly joins the DN1 outfit from AC Bisontine; another French team that he has ridden with for the past couple of seasons. He has developed well there and broken in the Irish U23 national set-up.

For O’Mahony, the move to France represents the first time he has been based abroad full-time.

He has won several races this year, the best of which was the Des Hanlon Memorial.

He has become a regular on the Irish team this year, including for the U23 Nations Cup, and is coached by Ronan McLaughlin at Panache Coaching.

Having ridden for Kanturk this year, O’Mahony was set to join Italian team Gavardo Biesse Carrera Tecmor but has now opted for France.

Reilly has won some major races in Ireland in recent years and also took the Carn Classic this year.

While he has raced in France for long periods of the last season, he has also been studying for a physiotherapy degree in Belfast.
