A company run by Rás winners Philip Cassidy and Brian Connaughton, www.spin11.com  has won the contract to supply Cycling Ireland with its racing and training kit for the next three years.

It plans to increase the availability of Irish kit to see more leisure and racing cyclists buying sets to wear on training and leisure rides. With that in mind, Spin11 is to develop separate winter and summer ranges.

Details of the new arrangement were announced by Cycling Ireland, which said the Dublin-based company would be the federation’s “technical clothing sponsor”.

Maria Connaughton, who runs much of Spin11’s activities, said the company was “absolutely delighted” with the news.

“Irish cycling is booming at the moment, as can be seen by the huge numbers of people pedaling at the weekends. Martyn Irvine’s phenomenal recent track success has pushed cycling further into the national consciousness and that is borne out by the amount of new cycling clubs contacting www.Spin11.com for their own customised cycling clothing.”

“The Spin11-Cycling Ireland partnership means Cycling Ireland riders will benefit from new fabric technology and race-winning aerodynamic cuts. In fact, we are already busy designing the new Irish national team kit.”

Spin11 will launch a retail range of the Irish national kit for bike shops this summer, with the winter riding range launching in September.

Cycling Ireland’s logistics officer Susan O’Mara said: “The close proximity of the Spin11.com head office to the Cycling Ireland office is a great asset and will allow us to work closely together to design and develop the best clothing that is required for competition on a world stage.”
