Journalist and author Paul Kimmage has provided some trademark robust exchanges since becoming a regular panellist and host with iTalkSport on Setanta TV, with the latest focussing on the recent Martin Fagan EPO case.
Marathon runner Fagan recently tested positive for EPO, did not contest the findings and has been banned for two years.
In The Irish Times last week, Fagan was given a sympathetic hearing by athletics journalist Ian O’Riordan in an interview where Fagan outlined the personal problems linked to his decision to use EPO.
He said he had been suffering from depression and financial difficulties and that he had struggled with injury. The combination of issues, he said, led him to a position where in desperation he took EPO.
