Traversing through some of the most spectacular countryside in Ireland, the Ride Dingle sportive will be back open for entries tomorrow, Thursday, after a two-year absence.
Like most events across the country, Ride Dingle was badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. The event had to be cancelled in 2020 and though the organisers were working towards having it back again this year, pandemic restrictions forced its cancellation again.
However, the Co Kerry sportive will definitely take place next year and riders will be able to enter from tomorrow for the 2022 edition, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 23rd.
The event offers two routes; one of 55km and one of 120km. The shorter route starts in Dingle and goes towards Ventry before some spectacular landscape on Slea Head, also passing Coumeenoole Beach, thtough Ballyferriter and back to the finish in Dingle.
The longer, 120km route is more challenging as the 55km Slea Head sportive features almost no climbing.
That longer 120km option features a 55km opening section that mirrors the Slea Head sportive before heading out onto Conor Pass, descending into Cloghane and riding on to Camp.
At that point, from Camp, the road kicks up again before the descent into Annascaul and then heading on to Lispole followed by the homeward leg back to Dingle.
Entries for the event have regularly sold out and and registration for next year's event will open tomorrow morning, Thursday. You can find more information by following this link.
