Lakelander Gravel Grinder, one of the biggest gravel events on the island of Ireland, is open for business for the 2022 edition.
The event – with a 50km or 100km route to choose from – takes place on Saturday, October 8th, though is open for registration now and costs £50 or £55 depending on which route you choose,
The 100km Big Dog event is based mainly in Co Fermanagh,
starting from Belcoo and taking the riders into Ballintempo
Forest on a route with 1,880m of elevation and which also takes in some of the
Game of Thrones filming locations.
The route is 84 per cent
gravel roads, with the remainder on B roads and tracks, which combined to make
up a challenging day out in the Cuilcagh
Lakelands Global Geopark.
The 50km Little Dog event
also starts in Belcoo and features 850m of elevation gain. With the exception
of about 2km of the route, it is held entirely on gravel.
Both events after open to riders using gravel bikes, mountain bikes and e-bikes. Lakelander Gravel Grinder is fully marshaled, with three food and water stations and two aid stations as well as roving mechanics and roving medics.
Riders will finish at the entrance of Ballintempo Forest and will receive a scanned finish time, finishers' medals and official finish photos, while the riders are also GPS-tracked.
