Sean Yates shows he still has physique of WorldTour rider as he turns 60

Sean Yates clearly hasn't been get stuck into the beer since he retired from pro cycling all this years ago. He now works as a cycling coach and has obviously been following his own advice. He is as lean as a WorldTour rider


Sean Yates, the former pro rider who held the yellow
jersey at the Tour de France, has shown off his physique as he turns 60 years
old today.

Yates was a powerhouse rider in his day who won stages in
the Tour and Vuelta. He was especially strong against the watch and was a top
domestique for many years of his career.

In the 1987 Nissan Classic he famously won the 227km Ring
of Kerry stage and followed up with another win into Cork in the 1991 edition
of the race.

Now coaching other riders, through his Sean Yates Coaching business and working as a brand ambassador for Ribble ebikes, Yates has clearly been following his own training advice.

This shot he has shared on his social media accounts
shows that at 60 years old he still has the kind of physique most top pro
riders today need to compete at the highest level.

During his career, as well as his Tour and Vuelta stage
wins, Yates was also British national champion.

He claimed a stage in Paris-Nice, the Critérium du
Dauphiné and took overall victory in the Tour of Belgium, among many other wins.

He turned pro with Peugeot-Shell-Michelin in 1982 where a
fresh-faced Stephen Roche was among his team mates.

Yates stayed with that team for five seasons before teaming up with Roche again at Fagor; riding for that squad in 1987 and 1988.

He then moved to 7-Eleven for two seasons before transferring to Motorola in 1991 and staying with them until his retirement in 1996.
