Nicolas Roche yesterday opened the doors to his new cycling and triathlon shop in Co Cork for the first time; the pro rider and his business partner now trading after months of preparations.
Roche and Cahill already have a
successful wholesale cycling business, Roca Sports, and have now opened a
superstore under the same name which caters for running and swimming as well as
their original cycling business.
The shop is situated in Fota Retail
Park, Carrigtwohill, east Cork, and with a café on the premises the business is
laying out a welcome for groups of cyclists to stop for a cup of coffee when
then they are in the area.
With a keen eye for detail, the shop
owners even have their own Nicolas Roche Coffee blend, though the real business
is in stocking everything cyclists and triathletes could possibly need.

They have a wide range of bikes available including BMC, Wilier, Ridley, Cipollini and Colnago. The clothing range includes Castelli and Sportful while other goods come from well known brands like Limar, Gaerne, Sidi, Shimano, Speedo and Funky Trunks.

A collection service is also
available for bike servicing – adults and kids – while bike financing and the
bike to work scheme are also catered for by the new shop.
Roche and Cahill had planned an
opening event, with some cycling stars from Europe, but due to the pandemic
they have put that on ice and gone for a soft opening for a time yesterday when
Roche called into the store.
And after yesterday’s first trading
period they will be open from business proper from Monday; with the business
operating seven days per week from Monday.
They still plan to have an opening
event, when Covid-19 allows, and the great news for any families hunting for
kids’ bikes is that the shop has a full range upstairs in store.
