Cycling Ireland A1 Rankings: Daire Feeley best of 157 riders in top tier

Daire Feeley (All human-VeloRevolution) is sitting atop
the elite men’s race National Road Series and now the Roscommon rider is also
top of the Cycling Ireland A1 rankings.

Having topped the standings at the end of last year,
Feeley is well on the way to repeating that result in 2021, having built a commanding
lead already.

He has amassed a massive 160 points, with the next ranked
rider – Gareth O’Neill of Caldwell Cycles Omagh – on 94 points. Lindsay Watson
of Powerhouse Sport is 3rd with 90 points followed by another of the Caldwell
Cycles men; Darnell Moore in 4th with 74 points.

Tom Regan of Seven Sprints Cycling Club is now in 5th place, on 71 points, followed by U23 Irish international Aaron Wade (Powerhouse Sport) on 70 points and new Irish criterium champion Conor Murnane of UCD Cycling Club on 66 points.

There are 157 riders in the A1 rankings, though many of
them are riders who have not yet scored points this year or who have been
promoted to A1 and are yet to score since their upgrade.

Feeley, who spent several seasons racing abroad with UC Monaco and with EvoPro Racing, has been back on home turf for the past two years and has claimed win after win.

So far this year he has won the Noel Teggart Memorial,
the Starsky WarmEwis-Sempre Road Race, a stage of the Newcastle West Stage
Race, the Sliabh Luachra Clasaicí and the John Ferguson Cup. Most recently, he
took silver last night in the National Criterium Championships.

O’Neill has also been in great form this year, especially
in the early part of the season when he took several wins in quick succession.
They included the Annaclone GP, Carn Classic and Hilltown GP.

Watson has been riding well, in both road races and
against the watch, and has taken victory in the Ards Criterium, four rounds of
the Ernie Magwood TT Series, the Boyne GP and Brendan Campbell Memorial.
