Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) took victory on Saturday in the second fastest Milan-Sanremo in history with an attack across the top of the Poggio. While he was pursued all the way to the finish he took a brilliant win, 15 seconds up on Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) with Wout van Aert (Jumbo Visma) 3rd. Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) was 4th, the last of the four-man move that went clear on the Poggio before the descent into the finish.
