Sean Rowe is well known all over the country for his work documenting the Irish cycling scene and he was in his element yesterday at the summit finish of Rás na mBan stage 3.

The international field tackled the climb of The Cut in Co Loais and the riders had to fight their way every inch to the line. It was an epic day out, won by race leader Abi Smith of Team GB.

The Irish national team had three riders in the winning move; Alice Sharpe, Imogen Cotter and Kelly Murphy. Their select group went clear on the penultimate climb of Wolftrap.

They then raced on to tackle the summit finish climb of The Cut - a 7km ascent with an average gradient of 4.5 per cent and a maximum of 9.8 per cent.

In the finale, Cotter and Murphy were riding for Sharpe, who finished on the same time as stage winner Smith. Sharpe is now one of just three riders equal on time at the top of the general classification.

Sean Rowe has captured these fantastic images of the riders at the finish; the pain etched all over their faces.
