Cyclist Louis Meintjes suffers awful sunburn out training
Pro cyclist Louis Meintjes has run into a self-inflicted issue as he limbers up for the new season; sunburn.
From South Africa, he was out training clearly with a light, mesh, jersey on.
And the 25-year-old was absolutely roasted by the sun through the sparse fibres of his jersey.
“Rookie mistake,” he said when sharing his photo on Twitter.
Cycling fans will remember Chris Froome suffered in a similar way a few years ago. He was badly burned while out training with new kit at the time.
Louis Meintjes, it has to be said, didn’t get too much sympathy on Twitter.

There were plenty of recommendations for how to treat the sunburn. But others took a lighter approach and got stuck into him.
Former pro cyclist and Eurosport commentator Brian Smith suggested the cross on his back made him look like a donkey.
In fairness, after growing up in sunny climes he should be used to the sun. And he probably feels like a donkey having been caught like this.
It’s a lesson to us all; if you’re going to be training in the sun be mindful you can get burnt through your jersey like this.
