Eileen Burns and Josie Knight have demonstrated their ability against the clock on the international stage in Holland.

Both Irish riders finished in the top 10 at the EPZ Omloop van Borsele last night. The event was a 19.7km flat test with a UCI 1.1 ranking.

It attracted a very strong field, not just from Holland but also further afield.

British national TT champion Hayley Simmonds, a Team WNT team mate of Knight's, claimed victory in a time of 27mins 20secs.

She beat Dutch rider and Lotto Belgium Tour stage winner Natalie van Gogh (WV Noord-Holland) by eight seconds.

Irish road and track international Burns was guesting for British team NCC Group-Kuota-Torelli.

One of Ireland's best ever female TT riders; she was 6th, 1:01 down on the night.

She looks a certainty for Northern Ireland's Commonwealth Games team next year. Burns is expected to take in more international racing as the Games approach.

Knight, in her first TT since moving to her new team, claimed 10th place last night, 1:25 down.

The young Irish hope was 6th earlier this month in the Capernwray Road Race in Britain.
