Robbie Tosh has gotten off to a flying start on the opening day of racing at the Carn Wheelers Two Day, winning the morning road race stage and also taking the race lead, as well as the climbers' classification jersey.

The Ballymena Road Club teenager, competing in his first ever stage race, made no mistake when he got a clear run at the line, claiming his second ever road race win after clinching the Bonar Cup just last Wednesday night.

Tosh, last year's Ulster junior 25 mile TT champion, also set a recent PB over the 10-mile TT distance and has clearly carried that form into this weekend. His win today in the C3 Carn Wheelers Two-Day came at the end of 67.5km of racing into Maghera, Co Derry.

He was best in the sprint to the line, from a 25-rider bunch, with Barry McKenna (Fintona CC) 2nd and Niall Daly (Armagh City Cyclists) in 3rd place.

With so many riders all on the same time heading into the evening stage 2 TT, the C3 race is still very much wide open for now. However, the race leader is also clearly in good TT form, meaning he will fancy his chances in the race against the clock.

More to come.
