Emma Jeffers (Liv AlUla Jayco Women’s Continental Team) has again contested the final sprint at Tour de Pologne, battling it out with some of the biggest teams in the world.

The 20-year-old won the Irish U23 road race title at the National Road Championships in June in Co Meath, has made her debut for Ireland on the track and is now in her second season at UCI Continental level this year.

She placed 12th on the third, and final, stage today in Poland, at the end of 128km of racing from Naleczow to Krasnik. Stage 1 winner and race leader Chiara Consonni (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto) put in a monster final kick to demolish the opposition to win again.

With the three stages ending in sprints, Consonni won the overall by 13 seconds from yesterday’s stage winner, Linda Zanetti (Uno-X Mobility), with Kathrin Schweinberger (Human Powered Health) 3rd at 21 seconds.

Jeffers was 19th overall, at 40 seconds, and while she will want to significantly improve on that result, and her two 12th places on stages 1 and 3, she was in the fight riding against World Tour teams.

Marine Lenehan made her World Tour team debut, for Lidl Trek, in Poland. And having finished in the bunch on stages 1 and 3, she has clearly begun to already settle in at this level.
