The good people behind the Tour of Britain have published this again and that's all the excuse we need to bring it to you; Sam Bennett's first proper pro win all the way back in 2013.
The Irishman was riding for An Post-Chainreaction at the time and won this hilly stage 5, in a sprint from a select group, after 177.km from Machynlleth to Caerphilly.
Bennett had gone very close a few days earlier at the end of the 225km stage 2 into Kendal when he was pipped by the then Milan-Sanremo title holder at the time, Gerald Ciolek (MTN-Qhubeka).
But on stage 4, after Dan Martin (Garmin Sharp) had attacked hard on the climbs in a bid for stage victory and was recaptured, it came down to a sprint from a group of 15 riders.
Bennett easily won (result below videos) from Michał Gołaś (Omega Pharma-QuickStep) and Martin Elmiger (IAM Cycling).
On the basis of that win Bennett secured a place for the following year with Net App Endura, a ProContinental team we won three races with in 2014.
He would develop into one of the best sprinters in the world with that team through its various guises towards its current iteration, Bora-hansgrohe; only leaving it at the end of last season for Deceuninck-QuickStep.
