Video: Drone footage shows Dublin as cyclists' paradise with empty streets

Dublin looks a lot different with empty streets due to the impact of the Covid19 social isolation measures currently in place

The coronavirus may have opened a debate about whether cyclists should be out training on the roads or not, but one thing is clear; Irish roads have never been clearer or safer for those on two wheels.

Yesterday the Movement for Credible Cycling urged amateur and pro cyclists all over the world to stay off the roads; for fear of crashing and filling a badly needed hospital bed or in case they helped spread Covid19.

That advice received a mixed reception, with many questioning why cycling alone posed a major risk, though others said they preferred to train indoors for now.

While Cycling Ireland has urged clubs not to train in groups, many cyclists are continuing to train alone on the roads.

Riding alone or in groups is restricted or banned in nations like Italy and Spain but not in Ireland; not as of yet anyway.

Clearly we'd all much prefer if the virus was not inflicting damage all over the world in the way that it is, but the video below offers a glimpse into what life would be like for cyclists in Dublin if car wasn't king.
