Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost) has shot up the UCI end of season rider world rankings and is now firmly among the very best names in the sport. Indeed, the only rider in recent decades to get to the position Healy is in now was Dan Martin, the monument winner who claimed five Grand Tour stages and was 11th in the rankings in 2017.
Though Healy is now ranked 13th in the world, he is not the only Irish male rider to enjoy a breakthrough season, with the performance of Rory Townsend (Q36.5 Pro Cycling) also jumping out of the world rankings.
A total of 28 Irish male riders scored enough points in UCI-ranked races this year to feature in the end of season rankings - see full ranking of the Irish riders below. However, Healy is the only rider in the top 100, after a tricky season for some of our top names.
Healy scored 2,742 points in 13th, and just 166 points off the top 10, with Wout van Aert (Visma Lease a Bike) in 10th on 2,908 points. To put that in perspective, Healy's stage win at the Tour de France was worth 210 points.

The rankings are topped, to say the least, by Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) who scored a massive 11,680, more than double 2nd placed Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | Lease a Bike), who scored 5,944 points. Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) was 3rd, with 5,514 points.
Healy's biggest points tally - some 600 points - was secured for his bronze medal in the road race at the Worlds in Kigali. That was followed by 520 points for 3rd in Liège-Bastogne-Liège (1.UWT) and 295 points for 9th place overall in the Tour de France.
He scored 220 points for 4th at Strade Bianche (1.UWT) and 210 points for winning stage 6 of the Tour de France as well as 150 points for finishing 2nd on stage 16 and 110 points for finishing 3rd on stage 10.
Though his Tour stage win was worth 210 points, Healy's stage win at Tour of the Basque country was worth just 50 points. Leading the Tour for one stage - and the Irish rider led for two this year - was worth 25 points.

After Healy, the next best placed Irishman in the world rankings at the end of the 2025 campaign was Townsend, who ranked 140th on 657 points. Some 400 points of his overall tally were secured for winning the one-day ADAC Cyclassics (1.UWT) in Germany in August while winning the men's road race at the Nationals in Meath in June was work 100 points.
Archie Ryan (EF Education-EasyPost) was next best of the Irish riders in the end of season UCI rankings, placing 281st on 319.25 points. His biggest result was 2nd overall at Tour of Austria, for which he won 85 points, followed by 80 points for 4th on stage 10 at La Vuelta.
Eddie Dunbar (Team Jayco AlUla) and Sam Bennett (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) this year did not reach the heights of previous seasons. Dunbar was 284th in the rankings on 317 points while Bennett was 366th on 234 points. In 2021, Bennett had been as high as 15th in the rankings midway through that season.
