Video: Van driver knocks down cyclist, newspaper asks readers who caused it

The driver continued out onto the roundabout hitting the cyclist, though thankfully he did not appear to be badly injured

When video emerged of a cyclist being knocked off his bike by a van driver at a roundabout, it was pretty clear who had caused the incident.

Thankfully nobody was seriously injured and the cyclist was back on his feet in no time, despite having been knocked off the bike.

The rider was already on the roundabout and preparing to come off it when a van driver who reached the roundabout kept driving and hit the cyclist.

It was a clear cut case as the driver should have waited until the traffic from his right was clear before driving out.

However, that didn't stop the Daily Mail asking its readers who they thought had caused the crash.

They published a piece on the incident, with the video (below), under the bizarre headline: “Moment cyclist is left sprawled on the floor after crashing with a van as he tried to take the exit at a roundabout… but who is in the wrong?”

It reported the crash had occurred at Stoneferry roundabout near Hull in England on Monday and added people on social media were divided about who had caused it.

In the video, recorded by a another driver, the van driver hits the cyclist and then comes to a halt, getting out of his vehicle to help the cyclist while appearing to hold his hands up in apology.
