After the video - below - emerged of the Team Sky coach giving a cyclist the fright of his life the team has now apologised, adding the driver had been spoken to.
Having been challenged by cyclists and cycling fans on social media to address the actions of one of its drivers, Team Sky has said the incident was unacceptable.
Cyclist Andy Rolfe released the footage on Twitter showing the Team Sky bus overtaking him and narrowly missing him as it moved back in towards the ditch when an oncoming truck appeared on the road ahead.
Luckily there was neither collision nor injury but by the sound of Rolfe’s shout after the coach had passed him he got the fright of his life.
And now Team Sky has said it has spoken to the driver and apologised on behalf of the team.
“What is shown in the video is unacceptable and we are sorry,” it said in a statement issued just hours after the video emerged.
“We’ve already spoken to the driver and we’ll be discussing this with him again in more detail.
“We will also be speaking to all staff and reminding them of their responsibilities.
“Encouraging people to get out and on their bikes is a huge part of what we stand for as a team.
“We are a team of cyclists and we all know how important it is for us as a team to set an example when it comes to ensuring cyclists are able to use the roads safely.”
Not clever for a cycling team...
