Primož Roglič and his Jumbo Visma team have been one of the hardest hit by crashes on the Tour de France opening stages.
And the Slovenian, who is team leader and favourite to win the race overall, has taken to Instagram to show off the sheer extent of his injuries, or rather this bandages.
"The situation is far from good," Vuelta champion Roglič said in his message with the photo of himself covered in bandages.
"But I had to smile, reading all the good wishes and positive thoughts you had sent me. The mummy will be on the start today and we will see how it goes!"
The team also lost Robert Gesink yesterday - a vital team worker - when he came down in the same early crash as Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers). And on the opening stage Tony Martin, another engine in the line-up, was badly injured.
The German hit a spectator who stepped slightly into the road with a homemade sign, causing a really serious crash that brought down many riders with 45km to go. As half the Jumbo Visma team was on Martin's wheel at the time, several of them came down in that crash.
One of the team's coaching staff, former pro rider Grischa Niermann, also shared a photo today of one of the rider's legs spattered with blood from a crash yesterday: "We are wounded but ready to fight on," he said.
Aside from the time Roglič lost yesterday, his injuries will be a real worry. Riders can often feel more pain two days after a bad crash than the following day. And that could mean Roglič will really pay for his crash in tomorrow's stage 5 TT.
Depending on how today's stage goes, Wout van Aert (Jumbo Visma) or Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-QuickStep) will be favourites to take the yellow jersey after tomorrow's TT stage.
