Nicolas Roche has shared this photo of himself in his new BMC Racing kit for 2018. And there's a very welcome - and large - touch of Irish to his look this time around; nice one.
Nicolas Roche 2018 BMC kit with welcome Irish touch
The 2018 BMC Racing kit is likely to become a collectors' item for hardcore Irish cycling fans thanks to the national stripes, or bands, on Nicolas Roche's jersey.
With the team's jersey featuring green and white at the cuff of the sleeves, the addition of a large section of orange was all that was needed to denote Roche's status as a former Irish champion.
This year Roche wore the Irish champion's jersey until June as he had won the road title in Kilcullen last year.
But when Ryan Mullen claimed the 2017 gold medal this June in Wexford, the Irish champion's livery passed to him.
As a result, Roche reverted back to the standard, mostly red and black, BMC kit.
And while his jersey featured the Irish bands on the sleeves, they are much bigger now. Many of the jerseys he wore in the second half of the season also didn't feature the Irish colours.
So now that they have been included so obviously from the start of the 2018 campaign, we'll likely see them every time he races.
The 33-year-old has been Irish elite road champion twice; in 2009 and 2016. And he also won the TT title last year and in 2007.
Nicolas Roche took his first Irish title on the road in 2004 when he was crowned U23 road race champion.
