McGlinchey says form is good and should get even better

Christopher McGlinchey was one of the stars of the 2016 season and he hopes this coming year can bring about even more performance gains. He works full time for his team, Chain Reaction Cycles, and will aim to give them plenty exposure in the months ahead.

Christopher McGlinchey opened his 2017 account yesterday with a resounding win in the Phoenix GP and he’s hoping to carry that form with him throughout the Spring.

The Chain Reaction Cycles man said it was “great” to get a win so early in the season and event better that his form is where it’s currently at.

“The race was quite brutal to be honest,” he said.

“The A2 group had a three-minute handicap so it started pretty fast but a group of us managed to break away and catch them after around three laps.

“Then it was constant attacking and nothing really sticking and it wasn't until halfway around the last lap that the winning attack stuck.”

In that move was last year’s winner and An Post Rás stage winner Eoin Morton, Lindsay Watson, Paul Kennedy and Andrew Chivers.

“It it came down to a sprint between us. I timed it just right and managed to win by a good distance.

“I think the form is great for this time of year, my coach is happy with how the numbers are looking and racing should bring me on a bit too.”
